The department itself works well with employees to formally get them ready to work (i.e. paperwork, help lines, etc.).
The work environment is dependent on the research lab and facilities the employee works under, as well as the supervising staff. Research can have downtime and also be extremely fast paced, with a feeling of being overworked for little recognition. Good pay. Part of a larger institution that is constantly changing.
