I have been working at Phaidon for almost 10 years and I absolutely love the business. EPM Scientific is an amazing part of the organisation as we are working each and every day that exists to help cure diseases / treat medical conditions.
The hours are longer than a lot of “normal” jobs, but certainly no longer than most “city” jobs, in fact, there are plenty of people I know that work significantly longer hours in jobs they like less!
We start at 7:45 and tend to finish at about 6PM on Monday-Wednesday. Sometimes we will leave a little early on Thursdays and we always finish earlier on Fridays.
Like almost all of our management I joined as a graduate and can honestly say that I have never been “bored” in my role. We are constantly developed, pushed, and supported to be the best we can be.
The hardest part of the job is learning that every person is different, and what makes perfect sense to you may be the complete opposite to them. At the early part of your career, handling setbacks is one of the most important things to learn.
My favourtite part of the job is the people I work with. EPM has a brilliant team of people and a fantastic team mentality. Thats not to say we are not competitive, but we encourage and push each other in a constructive manner to succeed. Its a great group of people and they are one of the primary reasons I come to work each day!
The rewards here can be huge, I am completely financially independent and so are most of the team that have been here for a couple of years – it takes a little while to build up your client book and to learn the job. When you do, Phaidon offers an amazing reward scheme.
On top of this we regularly go to Michelen starred restaurants, company holidays to places like Ibiza and Las Vegas, and have regular paid for parties and social events.
I am one of the few people that I know (outside of Phaidon) that love my job, the people I work with, and the company I work for. Its a great career for those willing to put in some hard work at the start.
Holidays, Lunches, Social events (eg Boat parties), Inclusive culture
Longer hours than some jobs (but pretty standard for the City)
