Salary: £22,369 – £24,054 per annum pro rata
Hours: Part-time 22.2 hours per week
Base Location: Working from home and any CBC offices, including Thorn Turn Highways Depot, Grendall Lane, Houghton Regis, LU5 6GJ. You will be expected to attend a CBC office location on a monthly basis, and as needed to carry out your role
Contract Type: Hybrid – Permanent

More about the role:
Parking and the management of parking restrictions is an important public service, which provides benefits for pedestrians, cyclists, motorists and the wider community across Central Bedfordshire. The Parking Enforcement Team aims to provide a modern, efficient customer focused service and we’re committed to delivering a service that operates in a fair, consistent, and transparent manner.
We are extending our Parking Enforcement activities to include Moving Traffic Offences and we are looking for a highly motivated, empathetic, patient colleague who will listen to customers who may need advice or guidance and you will provide great customer service in an environment that brings new challenges every day.
You will be working in a small, flexible, friendly team, based from home, you will need to come into the office when required.
You will be responsible for working with the Council’s contractor on all aspects of Moving Traffic Offences including Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) processing.
You will ensure all Moving Traffic Offences and PCNs are assessed on their individual circumstances and process these cases in accordance with the regulations (Traffic Management Act 2004 and The Civil Enforcement of Moving Traffic Contraventions Designations and Miscellaneous Amendments Order 2022).
Great communication is essential as you will be dealing with written and verbal enquiries in relation to PCNs, low level complaints, liaising with internal and external customers/contractors where necessary. You will be confident in dealing with members of the public, council members and partners while representing the Council in a positive and proactive manner.
Your organisational skills and attention to detail will be an advantage to this role plus you will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, so customers are supported and advised appropriately.
You will provide this service in accordance with the council’s objectives and policies. Full training will be given to the successful candidate, this will include on the job training and a level 3 award for Notice Processors.
