We are seeking a collaborative, high-energy Social Media Lead with a passion for our mission: using the vantage point of space to increase our understanding of our home planet, improve lives, and safeguard our future.
The Social Media Lead will assist NASA Heliophysics communications managers with routine support for social media activities (which includes creating content for all platforms) and contribute to special projects. These activities will cover a wide variety of internal and external communications designed to increase knowledge of and appreciation for NASA’s Heliophysics work.
The candidate will use their skills to create visual assets that tell beautiful, compelling stories about Heliophysics activities and accomplishments to professional, lay, and stakeholder audiences through NASA’s social media channels.
The candidate will also maintain Heliophysics’ internal presentation and visual assets and will coordinate their use with the Heliophysics Science Division scientists and communicators, other NASA science divisions and the agency at large. The candidate may be responsible for publishing content and updates on the Heliophysics website.
This Social Media Specialist position reports to the Prime Contractor Earth Science Group Manager and the Task Lead for the SESDA Contract. SESDA supports a broad range of science disciplines; the development and use of scientific computer systems; engineering data analysis; engineering efforts to develop new technologies for scientific instrumentation; software application development and implementation; and computer system management for science exploration research.
The contractor position is open to candidates seeking either onsite or remote work. Onsite, the position is based at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD, with the potential flexibility for remote work (limited to candidates residing within the United States)/telecommuting at the discretion of the NASA customer. This position provides an opportunity for innovation, visibility, and broad impact, working closely with NASA communications teams that consistently rank among the most effective in the federal government.
